On September 28, COLABS, in collaboration with Dal, hosted the second Replit Riyadh Community Meetup at COLABS Narjis. Led by Replit Ambassador Abdullah Mosaibah, the session brought together developers, builders, and tech enthusiasts for an interactive exploration of Replit’s latest tools and capabilities, with a focus on turning ideas into functional applications and games.
Attendees were challenged to take an idea and turn it into something functional using Replit. The submitted projects ranged from multiplayer games and social experiences to interactive concepts built around food and cooking, demonstrating how quickly any concept can turn into working prototypes with the right tools.
A major theme throughout the session was accessibility. Participants explored how AI-assisted development can simplify the process of experimenting with an idea, using prompts and instructions to guide the development process and iterate on projects in real time.
The session focused on application rather than theory, using examples and live demonstrations to show how the tools could be used in real projects, and the meetup offered a clear example of how the development process is changing as AI becomes more integrated into the tools people use to build.
Instead of spending the session only learning about new features, participants were able to test them immediately and leave with working concepts of their own. For many, the biggest takeaway was that getting started can be much simpler than expected.
The Replit Riyadh Community Meetup was ultimately about moving from ideas to execution. Whether it was a multiplayer game, a social experience, or a completely new concept, participants had the opportunity to experiment, build, and see an idea take shape within a single session.
As AI continues to change how people build and experiment with technology, accessible development tools are becoming an increasingly important part of the region’s growing tech ecosystem. Through sessions like the Replit Riyadh Community Meetup, COLABS continues to create opportunities for developers and builders to explore these tools, experiment with new ideas, and turn them into something tangible.
